El Elyon- God Most High

I will cry unto EL ELYON (God most High); unto God that performeth all things for me.
My heart is fixed, Oh God, my heart is fixed: I will sings and give praise.
Psalm 57:2,7
What I can not do, El Elyon can. Oh my heart is fixed.

Breakfast at Our House

Ah.... one of the best parts of breakfast is a nice pot of tea.
Hum- we all like to read at breakfast. What do ya know?

Jonathan's favorite... we call it strawberry milk... actaully it's kefir. Just doesn't sound as yummy as strawberry milk, does it?

Happy Birthday Daddy

Every time Eddie's birthday rolls around, my heart giggles. I remember when we were preparing for our upcoming marriage, I had no idea Eddie's age. When I ask one day, he told me "late 30's." Yep... he was late all right. He turned 40 the weekend before our wedding.

Daddy's first birthday with Little Miss Rachel. She just sat back and watched the fun.
Jonathan, however, was very much into the fun. We had to wrap Daddy's gift in candy cane paper. He calls any gift a "package."

And, um.... my gift was not even edible. I have no idea what went wrong but my Apple Carmel cake was gross. So, we called Eddie at work and ask him to pick up a cake at Ingles on his way home. A carmel tort- that was absolutely out of this world!

Isaac and I had a great time shopping for this.... but I do believe the fun has just begun. Okay- so it really was a gift for the whole family.

What?

It has been so nice to catch up on some reading while away. I just don't get to read as much as I want. An article in "Parents" magazine freaked me out though. I'm shocked at how much media is affecting our children. The magazine gave "Five Take-Charge Rules." Check them out:

  1. Unplug Yourself: Is the TV always on-even when no one is watching it? Do you take your phone to the dinner table?
  2. Fire the Electronic Babysitter
  3. Develop Healthy Media Habits Early: "For toddlers and preschoolers, 20 to 30 minutes of screen time twice a day ( all screens, not just TV) is plenty, says Dr. Michael Rich."
  4. Teach how Technology Can Aid Learning: "What the World Book was to earlier generations, Google is today." Ugh!
  5. Be Skeptical: Just because it says educational doesn't mean it is.

So, how's your family doing on the media front?
