First Day of School

No new clothes, school bus ride, or new teacher photos to share from our first day of school. It never goes like planned! I set our first day of school for Monday the 28th of June in hopes of getting several weeks complete before little sis joins our crew. Books, notebooks, paper, pencils... all the supplies were in place and ready for our 9 o'clock beginning. At 7:00 AM (yes! 7 AM), Isaac was "lecturing" me about just when we were going to get started. So the first change to my plans was a new starting time. Thank goodness there are no laws about doing school in your PJ's! We had no sooner pulled out the new books and unloaded our baskets than I spotted a baby bird at the storm door. It had obviously fallen from the nest built on the light fixture about the door. So instead of reading history, we went on line to find out how to rescue a baby bird that appeared to hardly be breathing.

Isaac discovered that crushed dog food would do the job. So with a dropper for water, an empty berry container for a nest and mushed up dog food for its breakfast, Isaac and I determined to see if we could help our new little friend survive until dad's arrival home that evening. (As hard as we tried, we just could not get high enough to place it back in the nest.)

Little bird not only managed to survive. Upon returning home from running a couple of errands, we found bird pooh across the floor and Little Bird had made its way from the kitchen in the living room! Yep. She recovered and dad got her back in the nest. Here's the family photo:

We will probably never remember a thing we studied the first day of school... except that baby birds like dog food!

Meet Dylan

A new friend came to our house this week all the way from Aunt Diane's house in Nebraska. She sent Jonathan a teddy bear named "Dylan." Of course he was excited... but it was a bit sentimental to Eddie and me. Because we remember when "Snoodles" arrived for Isaac from Aunt Diane's house in Kansas. Snoodles doesn't look as cute and snugly as he did on the day Isaac took him from the box. He has several years on him plus lots of miles and hours too. Once he got left in a cabin in the mountains and came home on the big brown UPS truck.
But Eddie and I were a bit sentimental for another reason. Isaac left for Boy Scout Camp the same weekend Jonathan's new "friend" arrived (who we have renamed Marvin, by the way). Snoodles was definitely not one of the things on the pack lists! Instead it was water balloons, fireworks, and knives! Ah, our first born is growing up. But Hey! That's what's suppose to happen, right?

Family Night

We packed a picnic dinner, "kidnapped" Dad after work, and headed to the Creative Discovery Museum for Family Night. Little did I know that the area I had planned to park and picnic had been turned into a movie theatre- so our picnic was in the back of the Tahoe in a parking garage. And little did I know that River Bend was taking place- so the CDM was a mad house. Jonathan just could not handle all the noise, lights, and commotion. So he and Dad headed outside after a little water play, while Isaac and I fought the crowd a bit longer. We all agreed that the most fun of all was the four of us wrestling and laughing in bed when we got home!!

Baptism

For some time now, I have felt that I needed to be baptized again. When I was baptized as a child, I really didn't understand the "why" of baptism... just that I was "suppose to." So last night myself and three others from our fellowship were baptized at my mom and dad's home. Afterwards the kids had a great time swimming and playing in the water. I just had to post some of the cute photos of Jonathan. He had a ball playing in a bucket of water. And Miss Adrea was a sweetie to and help keep an eye on him.

What's Up?

~ 24 Weeks~
Our baby is growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week!
(And boy am I starting to feel it!) That puts her at just over a pound. She's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), she cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon start to plump up. Her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. (Is that why I am hungry all the time?)Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world. Her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Victory

"Victory rests not on faith in our spirituality. Our victory rests on faith in our God. We're often intimidated in battle because we are uncertain of our faith. We must remember we don't stand in victory because of our faith. We stand in victory because of our God.
Faith in faith is pointless. Faith in a living, active God moves mountains.
He is alive, He is active." Beth Moore

I am His living proof.
