Rally Day

Last year, Eddie was away on business and wasn't able to attend Rally Day with us. We loved having dad along this year!
Jonathan in the Plaza outside the War Memorial Building. The Legislative Plaza in located directly below the Plaza.
I was so thrilled to once again be able to take a motor coach to Nashville for Rally Day. Glad April had discernment to take the "big bus" because sure enough, it was full (56 seats)!
Our crew headed back to our bus after a very long and full day. We parked right on Charlotte Avenue in front of the Capitol Building.

Going through security into the TN Towers for the Leadership Luncheon.
"The Litte Ones" went along with us this year. (Actually, I was pregnant with Rachel last year.) And I sure was glad I took the BOB stroller along. Because they spent a great portion of the day in it. Thnakfully, we had lots of guys that toted them down stairs for me so Eddie and I didn't have to take the handicap entrances.
Jonathan with his new friend, Amy MacIsaac, during the Gregg Harris session. This was our last event of the day, so we were all getting really tired. Eddie and I sat outside in the hallway so Jonathan would not be disrupptive.

My Knight in Shining Armor! Eddie took care of Jonathan and Rachel all day long! It was such a huge help so I could concentrate on getting our group where they needed to be when without loosing anyone. Gotta admit, he was quite handsome in his suit pushing "The Bus" around all day.
Some folks from our group coming back from the tour of the Capitol Building. We visited Legislative Plaza to help with the cookie delivery. Then went through the underground tunnel into the Capitol.
METHEA with Senator Mike Bell and Representative John Forgety.

What an early morning! We loaded the little ones into the Tahoe at 5:30 in order to meet the bus at Wal-Mart at 6:00 AM. I was so proud of my crew for being on time!

Rally Day always makes me so proud of our homeschoolers. It also reminds me how thankful I am for the privelege of teaching my precioius children!

6 months

Look who turns 6 months today!

March 20, 2011

All done!

What a good feeling! My young man has finished 6th grade...okay, he does have a bit more history to read. But when Aunt Sherry invited us to head to Chattanooga with her and the boys, we were excited to celebrate the end of school.

Our day included a trip to Coolidge park where Rachel had her first feel of grass on her toes. If she's anything like her big brother, we'll never need to buy her shoes. Isaac would rather go barefoot than sleep!

Jonathan's favorite part of the Creative Discovery Museum had to be the RiverWalk where he played in the same spot the entire time. I think we will be spending much of our time playing in the water this summer.

Sometimes I forget how close in age Jonathan and Brody are...exactly 9 months apart.

So funny! Aunt Sherry was not around when I snapped this photo. Of course Rachel was in her Bijorn so I had several children around. A lady and her husband thought they were all mine. I was so tempted to not tell them the truth and let them think they were all mine.

Yogurt

Twice this week, I was ask how I make my yogurt. So... I decided to blog it of course! First I use about 5 cups of milk (goat, raw, or cow). If I happen to be using skim milk, I add about 1/4 cup of powdered milk.

The milk has to be heated just to the point it starts to steam; then allowed to cool.

Once cooled to a safe temperture to add the starter, I take about 1/2 cup in a measuring cup. To this I add either yogurt starter or 1 cup of Stonyfield plain yogurt. Add it back to the remainder of the milk.

Then place the milk into yogurt cups...

place them in the yogurt maker and set it for 12 hours. Any longer and it gets to strong for my crew. Refrigerate for 12 hours and.... Enjoy!!

Playing with Lai-Lai

Making play-dough... wish I had gotten a photo of the batch Isaac made...

Bump in the road

Our little crew was sick for what seemed like weeks and weeks when actually it was only about 8 days. Here's a bit of catching up...

Isaac's Scout Troop at the Freeze-A-Ree...

Troop 97 had a great weekend and brought home Klondike Mike along with a couple other "trophies."

Mr. Fashion-checking out his reflection in the dishwasher- so proud of his frog hat, McQueen Pj's, and shoes of course!

You can tell when this photo was taken that Rachel was still not feeling well.

Next Best Thing

Well, if you can't go camping, the next best thing.... We had been planning a trip for Isaac's birthday to camp. I had even figured out a way to keep the little ones warm in the tent. We were surprised to find out the camp grounds don't open till April!

Happy Birthday

Aunt DD made a gorgeous ice-cream cake for Isaac's birthday. I almost hated to cut it.

Happy Birthday, Isaac! I love you with my whole heart. You make ordinary days special!

Nana and Poppy took off from work and brought Isaac a birthday gift (along with shakes too!)...

A very heavy box!! Full of hardback Hardy Boys Mysteries... what a treasure.
There was evven a package from Jonathan (a mess kit) and one from Rachel (a chow set). You would think this kid is planning some backpacking and camping trips. Eddie and I had him a 20 degree backpacking sleeping bag- so he'll quit borrowing mine! And Aunt Diane sent an LED flashlight.

Yuck!

The only good thing about being sick is that my little man lets me snuggle him!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Uncle Tim and Aunt Sherry (along with Ben and Brody too!) on the opening of the Chapman Highway Chick-Fil-A. We were so excited to attend their Premier Night.

The new design is great... and it is so pretty too!
Ben and Jonathan showing off their t-shirts... of course Jonathan's was once Ben and Brody's. Don't you just love hand-me-downs?
And Jonathan's favorite.... Cow! You can't tell it from this photo, but Jonathan was so excited about Cow. He even gave him a big kiss on the nose. Thanks Uncle Tim and Aunt Sherry for inviting us! Little did we know how very sick we would be the next day....
